THE NON-EXISTENCE OF GOD
Isn't everybody familiar with Anselm's ontological proof of the exsitence of God? I've always had a problem with it. Anselm's proof hinges on the belief that that which exists in reality is greater than that which exists soley in the mind. I beg to differ. Try this on for size. Think of it as Morris v. Anselm. 1. God is perfect. 2. Existence is an imperfection. (This is taken from the obvious principle: Better to not exist than to exist.) 3. therefore, God does not exist. |
